Prince Charles HRH at ASRA's Information Stand Meeting Mr. Swaran Josan and Mr. Javed Parvez

ASRA started as a self held group/community association in 19880s. The charity was setup for south-Asian elderly people who were experiencing personal, social, health and family problems.

We became registered charity in 1984 and limited company In 1987.

We moved into  housing management in 1990s and assisted Sanctuary Housing Association in design and build Panjab Gardens and Stony Lane family housing scheme .

Our flagship health and Social Care Centre opened in 1999. The building costs were over £900,000. The required finance was raised, through Local and national agencies Like Harborne Parish Lands Charity, Smith Charities, Garfield Foundation, and the Tudor Trust, Sandwell Health Care Trust and Single Regeneration Budget. The local community gave personal cash Donations. The land for the project has been leased from Sandwell Council on a Commercial Lease for which ASRA pays £14,500 per annum. This was the biggest day Care  Project undertaken by an Asian organization in the West Midlands.

The Centre works towards improving the quality of life for the most vulnerable members of our community. Services Provided at that time were rehabilitation, meals on wheels, assisted bathing with hydrotherapy, community laundry, mental health care social and leisure activities, training and seminar facilities, information and advice, Drop-in and Physiotherapy & Chiropody by Sandwell Healthcare Trust and room HIRE for community functions.
